오늘 주님께서는 시편 37:7-9에 집중하도록 하셨다. “여호와 앞에 잠잠
하고 참고 기다리라 자기 길이 형통하며 악한 꾀를 이루는 자 때문에
불평하지 말지어다. 분을 그치고 노를 버리며 불평하지 말라 오히려 악
을 만들 뿐이라. 진실로 악을 행하는 자들은 끊어질 것이나 여호와를 소
망하는 자들은 땅을 차지하리로다. 잠시 후에는 악인이 없어지리니 네
가 그 곳을 자세히 살필지라도 없으리로다. 그러나 온유한 자들은 땅을
차지하며 풍성한 화평으로 즐거워하리로다.” 대부분의 우리는 몸을 쉬
거나 주안에서 휴식하는 것을 잘 하지 못한다. 오늘 아침 나는 평소보다
주님을 더 기다렸다. 오늘 말씀을 위해 기다리며 더 깊은 인내를 느꼈다
. 오랫동안 나는 성급해왔지만 이제는 인내를 가지고 그를 기다릴 때이
다. 나의 시간 때에는 별 일이 일어나지 않지만 주님의 때에는 모든 것
이 가능하다. 나는 오늘 이 안식일에 주님을 인내하며 기다린다.
이 안식일의 휴식에 주님께서는 내게 다른 종류의 휴식을 말씀하셨다.
시편 37편은 염려로부터 휴식하라고 말한다. 우리는 너무 많은 걱정을
하여 우리의 영이 지치고 주님의 안식을 필요로 한다. 안식하고 “자신의
길이 형통하는 이로 인해 불평하지 말라” 우리는 일찍부터 우리 자신을
다른 이들과 비교하고 다른 사람보다 성공하기 위해 노력하도록 배워
왔다. 우리는 “악한 꾀”를 통해 성공하려는 사람을 두려워하지 말라. 그
러나 시편 기자는 우리가 주안에서 안식하고 악한 자들이 형통하는 것
에 대해 분내는 것을 그치라 말하고 있다. 주께서 정의를 가져오시도록
그를 신뢰하라. 당신의 유업을 받을 수 있도록 인내하며 그를 기다리라.
시편 기자는 위대한 진리를 말했다: 걱정은 “단순히 해를 야기시킬 뿐이
다.” 주 안에서 안식하라. 그를 인내하며 기다리라. 당신의 눈을 예수께
두어라! 히브리서 12:2-3, “믿음의 주요 또 온전하게 하시는 이인 예수
를 바라보자 그는 그 앞에 있는 기쁨을 위하여 십자가를 참으사 부끄러
움을 개의치 아니하시더니 하나님 보좌 우편에 앉으셨느니라. 너희가
피곤하여 낙심하지 않기 위하여 죄인들이 이같이 자기에게 거역한 일
을 참으신 이를 생각하라”
오늘 아침에 나는 모든 것을 내려놓고 주님과 시간을 보내었다. 그의 강
한 임재를 느끼기 시작하였고 천국의 안식에 사로 잡혔다. 그 평화로운
임재 가운데 아이에게 부드럽게 사랑을 주고 있는 한 여인을 보았다. 나
는 이 아이가 고아로 버려졌고 죽었던 것을 깨달았다. 그러나, 지금, 천
국에서는 모든 것들이 새로와지고 있었고 땅에서 받지 못했던 사랑의
두 배의 사랑의 축복을 이 아이가 받고 있었다. 나는 또한 이 사랑의 부
어짐과 관심이 결코 끝나지 않을 것이라는 것을 알았다. 우리가 아는 것
보다 지금 더 많이 받고 있는 아이로 인해 분내지 말라. 주 안에서 안식
하고 그가 모든 것을 온전히 하시도록 그를 신뢰하라.
가난한 과부로 보이는 한 나이든 여자를 보았는데 그녀는 의의 의복을
입고 있었고 주로부터 갑절의 사랑과 은혜의 축복을 입고 회복되고 있
었다. 주께서 말씀하시기를, “과부와 고아들을 돌보라! 네가 그들을 위
해 행할 때 너는 나를 위해 행하는 것이다!” 그의 음성에는 죄책이나 비
난이 없다. 고발이나 판단이 아니다. 가장 필요한 이들에게 사랑과 관심
을 줌으로써 그의 안에 안식하라는 음성이었다.
우리 모두는 낮은 테이블에 모였고 무언가 먹을 것을 받았다. 프랄린 (
설탕에 견과류를 넣고 졸여 만든 것)처럼 보였다. 동그랗고 지름이 4인
치 정도 되어보였다. 매우 부드럽고 따뜻하고 촉촉했다. 맛 보는 것이
즐거웠다. 사탕은 아니었고 어떤 빵 종류였다. 나는 곧 우리가 하늘로부
터 신선한 만나를 받고 있다는 것을 깨달았다. 맛이 아주 좋았고 한 입
에 나는 곧 신선함과 새로와짐을 느꼈다. 주께서는 우리의 영, 혼, 육에
필요한 영양분을 공급하고 계신다. 주 안에서 안식하며 그를 참고 기다
리라!
나는 환상속에서 환상으로 옮겨졌다. 천국에서 두 남자가 알 수 없는 도
시의 매우 더러운 골목 땅에 있던 한 명의 노숙자 남자를 들어올리는
것을 보았다. 그들은 그의 먼지를 털어주고 부드럽게 그를 인도하기 시
작했다. 나는 그의 몸이 여전히 땅에 있는 것을 보았다. 그 남자들은 천
사들이었고 그가 주님과 영원히 안식하도록 집에 데려가는 것이었다.
내가 생각하는 것처럼 슬픈 순간이 아니었다. 천국의 관점으로는 매우
행복한 순간이었다. 그의 모든 고통이 끝났고 그는 다시는 홀로 있을 필
요가 없었다. 그가 천사들에 의해 아버지 집에 데려져 갔고 거기서 그는
천사들에게 사랑스러운 보호를 받았다.
주님께서는 이 아침에 이 땅의 관점보다 하늘의 관점으로 바라보아야
한다고 가르치셨다. 우리는 주 안에서 더 안식하며 주님이 모든 일을 온
전케 하실 것이라 그를 더 신뢰하여야 한다. 동시에 우리는 주께서 과부
, 고아, 노숙자, 불신자들을 위해 행하고 계시는 일에 함께 한 부분이 되
어 일하도록 초청을 받았다. 짐이 되어서는 아니된다. 우리안에 하나님
을 향한 사랑으로부터 비롯되어야 하고 아버지를 알아야 하는 자들에
게 우리가 다가가야 한다. 오늘 하늘로부터의 신선한 만나를 받고 다른
이들과 함께 나누어라. 특별히 도움이 필요한 자들에게! 아멘!
Shabbat Shalom,
Today the Lord gave me a strong focus on Psalm 37:7-9, “Rest in the
Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who
prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes
to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret—it only
causes harm. For evildoers shall be cut off; But those who wait on
the Lord, They shall inherit the earth.” Most of us are not very good
at resting our bodies or resting in the Lord. Yet, we so desperately
need to wait patiently on Him. This morning, I waited on the Lord
much longer than usual. I felt a deep sense of patience as I waited
on Him for a word today. I have been in a rush for a long time, but
now is the time to patiently wait for Him. Nothing much happens in
my timing, but everything is possible in His timing. I am patiently
waiting on the Lord during this Shabbat of rest.
During this Shabbat rest, the Lord pointed me to another kind of
rest. Psalm 37 tells us to rest from fret (worry)! We worry about so
many things that our spirits grow weary and need the rest of the
Lord. Rest and “do not fret because of him who prospers in his way.”
We are taught early to compare ourselves with others and try to
succeed above everyone else. We even fret (worry) about a man
prospering through “wicked schemes.” But the Psalmist points out
that we should rest in the Lord and cease to be angry about an
evildoer who prospers. Trust the Lord to bring justice! Wait on Him
patiently so that you can receive your inheritance. The psalmist
points to a great truth: worry “only causes harm.” Rest in the Lord!
Wait patiently for Him! Keep your eyes on Jesus! Hebrews 12:2-3,
“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith,
who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its
shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that
you will not grow weary and lose heart.”
This morning, I just let go of everything and spent time with the
Lord. I began to feel the heaviness of His presence, and was caught
up into His heavenly rest. In that peaceful presence, I watched as a
woman tenderly gave love to a child. Then I realized that this child
had been left as an orphan, and it had died. But, now, in the
heavenly kingdom, everything was being restored, and this child was
receiving a double portion blessing of the love it had missed on the
earth. I also knew that this pouring out of love and attention would
never end. Don’t fret for the child who is now receiving more than
we have ever known. Rest in the Lord and trust Him to make
everything right.
I saw an elderly lady who was obviously a poor widow, but now she
had been covered with a robe of righteousness and was being
restored by the Lord with double portion blessings of love and grace.
I heard the Lord saying, “Take care of the widows and orphans!
When you do it for them, you are doing it for me!” There was no
guilt or condemnation in His voice. It was not an accusation or
judgment. It was a call to rest in Him by giving love and care to
those who need it the most.
All of us gathered around a low table where we were given
something to eat. It looked very much like a praline. It was round
and about 4 inches in diameter. It was very soft, warm, and moist. It
was delightful to taste. It was not a candy. It was some kind of
bread. Then I understood that we were all receiving fresh manna
from heaven. It tasted very good and I immediately felt refreshed
and renewed with the first bite. The Lord is providing what we need
to nourish our spirits, souls, and bodies. Rest in the Lord and wait
patiently on Him!
I was carried into a vision within this vision. From heaven I had a
perspective on two men who were lifting up a homeless man who
was on the ground in a very dirty alley in some unknown city. They
brushed him off and gently began to lead him. Then I saw that his
body was still on the ground. The men were angels and they had
gone to bring him home to his rest with the Lord. It was not a sad
moment as I would have imagined. From the perspective of heaven
it was a very happy moment. All of his hardships were over and he
was never to be alone again. He was being so lovingly cared for by
the angels as they brought him home to the Father.
The Lord taught me this morning that we need to see more from
the perspective of heaven and less from the perspective of the world.
We need to rest more in the Lord and trust him more to make all
things right. At the same time, we are invited to be part of what He
is doing now to care for widows, orphans, homeless, and lost people.
It shouldn’t be a burden. It should be from the love of God living in
us and reaching out through us to those who need to know the
Father! Receive the fresh manna from heaven today and then share
it with others; especially those in need! Amen!
